The Glens Falls Urban Assualt is back for 2013! We are adding some new obstacles and having a BIG finish in downtown right down the middle of Glen Street!!!

The race will take place on Saturday, June 8th. We are going to start again at 5 pm.

The course is a ~4.6 mile course that navigates through the City of Glens Falls and its various landmarks. Along the way are challenging obstacles you’ll need to overcome!

This is an exciting event that anyone from couch pototoes to chiseled veterans (or anyone in-between) will equally enjoy. Compete alone or bring some friends to help get to the finish but don’t wear your best racing gear....it may get sloppy out there!

There will be stairs (lots of them), a parking garage, tires, hay bales, small bridges, rope obstacles, a slip-n-slide, walls and other objects to take on. There is even a 3-point shot where you can win some cash!

Registration is Now open - Only $40 for individuals

Teams of 10 or more are only $35 per racer (must register under one name) / Kids 18 and under are only $30

If your Team is LARGER than 10, you will need a code to get the discount. Use the Contact  form to ask for the code.

Course Rules & Obstacles:

This is an Urban Assault run. The course has been designed to follow along the sidewalks mostly, with some running in the street. There will also be a little running on grass, trails and other surfaces. Why did we do it this way? Well the simple answer is it's called an Urban Assault. What's there is there and we're using it. The course will be marked with signs as  well as volunteers. Participants will cross traffic on several roads, so be prepared to stop as needed or directed by volunteers or Police. The course is not a closed course - there will be cars and pedestrians.

The obstacles are placed throughout the course and are not at set intervals. They are placed where they are placed. Volunteers will be present at each obstacle along with signage. All participants are encouraged to attempt each obstacle. If the obstacle can't be completed, the participant can go around it after serving some type of penalty. Some obstacles may require crawling or rolling on the ground where there could be dirt or grass! If it is raining it will be wet!

Kids are to welcome to run, but  must be at least 6 years old. All minors are required to have parent or guardian signatures on the waivers and application. Strollers and dogs are not allowed on the course.

All participants will receive a t-shirt - Only guaranteed to those that sign up prior to May 28th.

Start Times:

Start times will be based on the wave you signed up for when you register. Each starting wave will have *75 racers and will be 3 minutes apart. 5:00, 5:03, 5:06, etc... Wave starts are subject to change and as the race fills waves will be added. This will be a chip timed event. *We are making the waves smaller to ensure that we have a safe number of people running on the sidewalks in the first 2 miles of the race. The smaller waves will help spread things out.

Start Location:

Oakland Avenue and Fedella - behind the Glens Falls Civic Center.

Bib Pickup or Race Day Registration:

Bib / timing chip pickup as well as Race Day Registration ($40) will take place under the pavilion at City Park (next to City Hall & the Library). From there participants can walk down to the race start.

Attire:

There are no restrictions on clothing. (well, other than I guess what the law says about wearing it...) In other words - if you want to wear a goofy costume, bathing suit or some riduculous outfit - go ahead!

Groups:

If you want to run with a group of friends, family or neighbors, we now have a group name as part of registration. Register as a team of 10 or more for $35 apiece. All folks that want to run together will need to register with your selected group name. If you have 5 friends that want to run together and you are calling yourselves - Ann's Army-, then all 5 members will need to fill that question in on the registration page with "Ann's Army". If something is spelled incorrectly we might not catch it during a sort. Please be sure to spell the name correctly. We can't guarantee you running together if you don't all spell the group name the same way. If you have already registered and need to group up - send us an email on our contact us form and let us know what your group name is.

Water:

There will be 3 water stations on the course serving water only. Participants can carry water or other type of product (e.g. gatorade) with them if they wish, using a water bottle, camelback or other container (no glass please). Alcoholic beverages are prohibited from being used on the course. The first water station will be located on top of the Parking Garage - enjoy the view. The second water station will be in Crandall Park and the third will be located on Clayton & Grant Ave next to the Glens Falls High School. They might be self serve - we're not sure yet... :)

Awards:

Awards will be given to the top 10 Male and Female finishers.

Waiver:

All participants will be required to sign a hard copy waiver prior to starting the race. This is the same waiver that each participant has already digitally signed when registering on Active.com. You can obtain a copy HERE to review or keep for your records.

Post Race:

The race finishes in City Park next to the police station and Crandall Library. We are going to close Maple Street between Bay and Ridge as we are working on having a beer garden for some post race "hydration". (More details to follow about the Beer Garden) After you finish, consider visiting one of the many downtown restaurants that Glens Falls has to offer. A business directory is listed HERE or visit the Adirondack Chamber of Commerce.

Updates:

A link to our blog is in the sidebar and we will be updating on a regular basis with any news, changes or special announcements. You can also follow us on Facebook & Twitter to get any updates as well (see links below).

*A portion of the proceeds will be donated to local charities.
